Day 475

Its been 475 days since I started this xanga
this is also my 11th post
11? thats not that many is it?
thats not even once a month!

Well.....its the tuesday after spring break
I've got a little over a month to "hit the books" and get ready for finals
Since I changed my major last semester from Pharmacy to a (inshallah) double in Management/ Marketing, I will probably be here doing the 5 year thing.

Here's the story of the Major:
I came into UIC undecided, took mostly science classes aimed at doing Pharmacy. All throughout the first year I was always asking myself  Why am I doing Pharmacy? Ever since I was little I liked to work with my hands, fix stuff, take things apart; always interested in the way things worked. But then, the last semester or senior year in highschool came around and I heard they had this class that counts for 2 credit hours and you get out of school at 12:30 everyday and there was potential for getting a job. I wanted in. So I asked my counselor to put me in the class, she asked me which program i wanted to go in to, there was either the beautician program or the pharmacy tech program. So i picked .......Pharmacy.
This is where it started. I told my parents i was in the program etc.. at first they didnt want me to work while in school but as time went on and they talked to other parents and they became very enthusiastic about me "pursuing" a career in pharmacy. Soon all the uncles and aunties knew and everyone was talkin to me about it and they we trying to convince me that it wasnt that hard and from working there i knew it was a fairly easy job with good money. So i thought i would fulfill my parents and families wishes and try it out. So a year and a half pass and I've had enough, and the thought of sitting in a Walgreens and talking to ppl about their medication wasnt gonna fly.
I started to look around, see what i could change my major to. I already had alot of science classes so i could easily change it to somthing along the lines of Bio-Chem, science related etc. but after gettin that science degree i was gonna end up working in a hospital of some sort. For me, that wasnt gonna work either. I dont like the whole "hospital environment" becoming a "doctor saab" is not what i wanna be either.
So i went back to my original choice Engineering.
but i was too behind and there was alotta hard work to be done and it was explained to me that it doesnt pay off to well, atleast in the begining
SOO..... i ventured in to the business dept. asked around, thought about management, figured everyone had a manager and decided to switch to management and marketing
a month later i got an acceptance letter from the CBA ( College of Business Administration) So i guess i was in. but then i dint know what to do with a vague and general degree like managment/maketing?!?!?!
Sooo.... started to dig around and i decided that i would finish this article at a later time
SALAAAM

Its friday night, well officially its saturday morning. My midterms are finally over and now i am a bit more relaxed. I spent alot of time this week at the Rayyan Center trying to study and relax. I thank the ppl at RC for putting up wtih me and please forgive me if i have done any of you wrong. Also, thank you for lettin me park there for a while and the chicken was great.

Today there was a UIC MSA BBQ, i thought it turned out very well, there was alot of ppl and there was just about enought food, granted there were quite a few runs to Jewel for hotdog and hamburger buns and such. But one aspect of the bbq felt wrong; there were a few brothers that didnt want to play football in SEO field for some reason and took another handful of brothers with them to play football to another field. This killed the whole point of the bbq, which i thought was to bring the muslims out of the class rooms so that they get to see and know the rest of the muslims on campus. And by the time they got back the food was just about gone too. So next time if the field isnt "the perfect green," js try to make the best of it.

When it came time for Asr, we had a beautiful Athan and everyone rushed into SEO to make wudu. When everyone was done makin wudu we prayed Asr, but there was somthing missing at the end. It was "The little talk," usually i dread it but this time there was none and i felt with the amount of ppl present it should have been done, js to keep with tradition.

All in all it was a good day, and we were out of food so the bbq was done. We gathered up all the garbage an piled it up next to the bins. Just when we were about to take off the garbage spontaneously combusted. It was on FIRE!! we ran over and Zaffer " the fire stomper" stomps out the fire. All the while this lady who was runnin with her baby called the cops.(Avg overreacting middleaged tryin to stay fit baby mama) Well the UIC Police shows up another 20mins later and they asked me if there was a fire, i told em there was, but js a few papers on the fire and we js stompped it out. He was satisfied with that answer and didnt even bother get out of the car and check.

Oh yea, there is this bichari kalli who roams the alley once in a while behind the RC lookin for food in the dumpsters, me and pk spotted her on the way to the bbq and invited her over. So i was js wondering if she showed up on the sister's side and got some food?

Great pic of me getting some studyin done at the RC (Picture taken by PK with Akbers camera in Sepia Mode)
